iHeartMedia New York Extends Mark Simone At WOR New York.

iHeartMedia talk WOR New York (710) has signed a new long-term agreement with veteran New York radio personality Mark Simone, extending his tenure at the news-talk station and expanding “The Mark Simone Show” to three hours.

Under the new deal, Simone’s weekday program will air from 9am to noon, adding an hour to the show from its previous 10am-12pm slot. The expanded schedule follows nearly 14 years at WOR and comes as the program continues to attract a strong audience and advertiser demand.

“Mark Simone is one of the most talented and respected broadcasters in America,” said Program Directo Tom Cuddy. “His ability to inform, entertain and connect with listeners is unmatched. Expanding his show by an additional hour is a win for our audience, our advertisers and the station.”

Simone joked about the earlier start to his expanded program.

“I’m not exactly an early riser, so this will take a little getting used to,” Simone said. “But the demand for this was overwhelming, from the audience and the advertisers. The first rule of mass media is to give the people what they want, so I’m honored and happy to do it.”

The move establishes a three-hour morning lineup at the station, with “Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning” airing from 6-9am, followed by Simone from 9am to noon.

Simone has spent more than four decades on New York radio, interviewing presidents, governors, mayors, business leaders, entertainers and cultural figures throughout his career. In addition to WOR, he has worked at WNEW, WPIX-FM, WMCA, and WABC.
