iHeartMedia Named Audio Partner For America250.

America250 is kicking off the final 100-day countdown to the nation’s 250th birthday with an expansive programming rollout that blends large-scale live events, national audio distribution, an audio partnership with iHeartMedia, and a coordinated push for community participation.

The congressionally designated nonpartisan organization unveiled plans for “America’s Block Party,” a synchronized, multi-city celebration designed to scale the traditional neighborhood Fourth of July gathering into what it calls the largest coordinated Independence Day event in U.S. history.

“America250 is creating the largest synchronized Fourth of July celebration in U.S. history through America’s Block Party,” Chair Rosie Rios said. “The Fourth of July has long been synonymous with neighborhood block parties — we’re turning up the volume on this beloved tradition by scaling it into a nationwide celebration anchored in live music.”

The first wave of host cities includes New York City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Fort Campbell, KY, and Charleston, SC, each offering distinct programming across July 3-4.

Among the highlights, New York will host a first-of-its-kind July 3 Times Square Ball Drop, marking the first non-New Year’s Eve descent in the event’s 120-year history. Los Angeles will stage a large-scale concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, while Milwaukee’s Summerfest will serve as an official Block Party location featuring a full day of live music.

At Fort Campbell, a major July 4 festival anchored by a Charlie Daniels tribute concert is expected to draw more than 100,000 attendees, while Charleston will stage a waterfront celebration featuring what organizers describe as the Southeast’s largest fireworks display.

Beyond in-person events, America250 is leaning heavily into audio to unify the celebration nationwide through a partnership with iHeartMedia.

As part of the collaboration, Americans will be able to listen to synchronized programming across broadcast radio, streaming and digital platforms, as well as via the iHeartRadio app, which will carry a nationwide livestream of July 3-4 events.

“iHeartMedia reaches 90% of Americans every month, and we are honored to partner with America250 to use the unique scale and reach of our broadcast radio and digital platforms to connect communities across America, helping to bring this once-in-a-generation celebration to life in a way that reflects the spirit of the moment,” said Bob Pittman, Chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia.

The audio component is positioned as a central connective tissue for the initiative, linking local celebrations into a shared national experience through a unified soundtrack.

Music will also play a prominent role through the “America’s Soundtrack” initiative, led by Executive Producer Emilio Estefan. The project will roll out new recordings from major artists throughout 2026, beginning with an updated version of “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang.

“You don’t have a party without music, and the party always gets going with a song everyone knows,” Estefan said. “‘Celebration’ is one of those songs. The second it plays, you feel it. This new version is about igniting that feeling across the country and celebrating the 250th together.”

Bandleader Robert “Kool” Bell added, “It is a pleasure and an honor to be working with my brother Emilio Estefan on a new version of our No. 1 song ‘Celebration’… Get ready to celebrate good times.”

In addition to entertainment programming, America250 is introducing a civic engagement component with “Giving 4th,” an initiative designed to make July 4 a national day of charitable activity.

“Our goal is to transform July 4, 2026 into the largest single day of charitable giving in U.S. history,” Rios said. “Our ambition is to establish July 4th as a permanent national tradition of giving — on par with the holidays, but uniquely American in spirit.”

The broader July 3-5 window will also feature partnerships across sports and culture, including games from Major League Baseball, a tall ships parade in New York Harbor, and the unveiling of a time capsule in Philadelphia to be opened in 2276.

Consumers can also participate locally by registering to host their own neighborhood events, with America250 providing digital toolkits and programming ideas aimed at extending the celebration into communities nationwide.

The countdown builds on a series of high-profile appearances for the initiative across major cultural moments earlier this year, as America250 works to build awareness and participation ahead of what is shaping up to be a multi-platform, multi-city national event anchored by audio, live experiences and civic engagement.
