iHeartMedia LMAs An Eighth Station In Washington, DC Metro.

iHeartMedia has signed a Local Marketing Agreement with Potomac Radio Group to operate and program WCRW Leesburg, VA (1190), which will give the company an eighth station in the Washington, DC metro.

The three-year LMA has iHeartMedia assuming operations of the AM station on Jan. 4, with an option to purchase it later. The FCC has approved a change in call letters to WTSD.

It’s unclear what type of format will be placed on the signal, which was carrying brokered ethnic programming as “New World Radio.”

WCRW is a Class B AM signal with 50,000 watts of daytime power and 1,200 watts of night-time power.

iHeartMedia purchased WUST (1120) in the DC market from Potomac Radio Group, (aka Marquee Broadcasting) for $1.2 million in September 2020. The signal serves as an affiliate of the company’s Black Information Network.

In the Washington, DC market iHeartMedia operates AC WASH (97.1), CHR WIHT (99.5), modern rock WWDC (101.1), classic rock WBIG (100.3), country WMZQ (98.7), WUST, and news/talk “Wonk FM,” which airs on the Washington, DC-licensed translator W284CQ at 104.7.
