Generations of Americans grew up with Mutual of Omaha’s “Wild Kingdom” on television. Now the ironic series is exploring a new media wilderness – audio. The insurance company has partnered with Pineapple Street Studios to debut Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom The Podcast. The original series is based on the long-running television series and marks the series’ first foray into the podcast space.
“Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom has been inspiring generations to protect wildlife for decades through the iconic series that paved the way for wildlife programming,” said Jennifer Wulf, VP of Brand Marketing at Mutual of Omaha. “By entering the podcast space, our goal is to reach a wider audience and continue to celebrate the conservation efforts of so many experts and we’re excited to do so with Audacy’s Pineapple Street Studios.”
Each week, listeners will explore the world of wildlife conservation in a whole new way with the television series’ co-hosts Peter Gros, veteran wildlife expert, and wildlife ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant. With many species under the threat of extinction, the co-hosts, alongside field experts, will take to the land, air and sea over to discuss a variety of wildlife efforts.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Mutual of Omaha to bring this new iteration of the legendary, iconic ‘Wild Kingdom’ series to listeners of all ages,” said Bari Finkel, Senior VP and Co-Head of Pineapple Street. “Peter Gros and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant are an engaging and entertaining team whose contagious love and deep knowledge of animals, and our place among them, will inspire and inform.”
The 12-episode Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom The Podcast launches July 16. New episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays through Oct.1.
Since its network television premiere in 1963, “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” has been one of the most loved and respected wildlife programs in television history. Gros has been a co-host of the show since 1985. Wynn-Grant joined as co-host in 2023. Today, the kid-targeted spinoff “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild” is the most-watched weekend wildlife show across broadcast and cable television.
