Former cast members of the television series “Boy Meets World” have reunited for iHeartPodcasts’ Pod Meets World series. Now the actors involved in the podcast, Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong, are turning their podcast experience into a film documentary. Speaking at 90s Con this weekend, Fishel said that they had already been making video of their podcast creation and the documentary will put that footage to new use.
“It really kicked into high gear last year when we started the podcast and we started doing some live shows,” Fishel said. "So, at some point, Rider, the creator of the idea of the podcast, also said to us, 'Do you think we should record any of this and do like a documentary of the experiences?'
People magazine reports that during a panel at the Connecticut event, Fishel said that they do not yet have a distribution outlet for the project, and it may ultimately just be something they can look back on themselves during a time when a podcast reunited the TV’s show’s former castmates.
We're not necessarily intending on doing anything with it,” she said, saying they have limited footage so far. "We have some, but not a lot. And [Rider] said, 'I think there's going to be a time whether it's in five years, 10 years or another 30 years where we're going to look back on the experience that we're all having now and wish we could relive it and experience it again,'" she told the conference.
The “Boy Meets World” series ran on ABC-TV from 1993 to 2000. It then had the “Girl Meets World” spinoff that ran from 2014 to 2017 on the Disney channel.
