Hit U.K. Podcast ‘Uncanny’ Heads To America For Supernatural Story Spin-Off.

The hit British podcast Uncanny is making its way to the U.S. with an American road trip on its spinoff Uncanny USA series. Like its flagship, the series will remain focused on investigating the supernatural. There apparently is no shortage of that to be found on this side of the Atlantic. Host Danny Robins will take listeners on a journey from Texas to California via the Alaskan wilderness, with some detours along the way.

Robins meets a young man in South Georgia who survived a terrifying night of poltergeist activity seemingly sparked by his aunt’s Ouija board; talks to a woman who believes her father, a former Spy, is contacting her from beyond the grave; and explores a host of other intriguing encounters — from the voodoo shops of New Orleans to the celebrity hotspot of Montecito, CA. There is a also a case of a potential UFO encounter and sinister cover-ups in the American South, and a journey to uncover one of the most enduring mysteries: the legend of Bigfoot.

“It’s been thrilling watching how Uncanny has grown and connected with so many people over the last couple of years, with listeners around the world sharing their strange experiences with us,” Robins says in a statement. “I can’t wait to get exploring the stories we have been sent from America, uncovering fresh mysteries and welcoming even more U.S. listeners to our Uncanny family.”

Uncanny first debuted in 2021 and has since become one of the BBC’s most popular podcasts. The show has also made the leap to television via BBC Select in the U.S. and Canada, and has created a global community of Uncanny fans ranging from the impassioned believer to the firmly skeptic.

“We’re expecting some seriously weird and wonderful encounters from the Uncanny team as they go on their paranormal American road trip. Along with the Uncanny community, we want to know if they do spookiness differently across the pond,” said Rhian Roberts, Commissioning Editor, Podcasts, Formats & Digital at BBC Radio 4.

Robins is also the creator of the BBC podcasts The Battersea Poltergeist and The Witch Farm, and is the writer of the award-winning West End play “2:22 – A Ghost Story.”

Uncanny USA debuts Tuesday, April 30. BBC Podcasts Premium subscribers get seven-day early access to episodes and can listen ad-free.
