Hillary Clinton, the first woman to win a major party’s presidential nomination, is introducing her first podcast in the middle of the election season. “You and Me Both with Hillary Clinton” is a new show that the former Secretary of State is launching with the iHeartPodcast Network. “This podcast is a chance to talk about subjects that are too often overlooked and share the inspiration and education I’ve gotten from my guests,” said Clinton.
“You and Me Both” will feature Clinton in what the producers promise will be candid interviews with guests from a wide range of backgrounds. The podcast will cover everything from the pressing political issues of our time to the challenges of cooking in quarantine. And iHeart says with the help from her guests, Clinton will tackle subjects including topics like faith, resilience, and grief.
“I’m excited to bring these eye-opening, powerful, sometimes hilarious conversations to the forefront and open up new avenues of discussion with some of the people I find most fascinating,” said Clinton in a statement. Among the first guests lined up for the series are Sarah Cooper, Gloria Steinem, Stacey Abrams, Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman, Samin Nosrat, Patton Oswalt, and Tan France.
“You and Me Both” has been in the works since earlier this year. The first episode of the 24-part series will premiere Sept. 29, just in time for the first presidential debate.
“Hillary, being the first woman on the ballot in a general election for president, is one of the great political leaders of our time, and we are delighted to partner with her on this project,” said iHeartPodcast Network President Conal Byrne in the announcement. “’You and Me Both’ will provide listeners with an astute, nuanced look at what’s happening in the world right now — and Hillary is the perfect moderator for those discussions,” he said.
Reports that iHeart was working with Clinton first surfaced earlier this month when news leaked that former President Bill Clinton is also working with the company on a new podcast slated to launch early next year. That podcast, which has not yet been officially announced by either the Clinton Foundation or iHeart, will reportedly be built off the “Why Am I Telling You This?” podcast.
