Only days before Fathers’ Day, NBA player-turned-podcaster Steph Curry is teaming up with his dad for a joint podcast that launches this week. Dell Curry, a former NBA guard, will join his son for Heat Check as the younger Curry enters his 16th season with the Golden State Warriors.
Produced by Steph’s Unanimous Media, Debuting Thursday, June 13, the Audible Original podcast will “pull back the curtain on their family’s journey, told through the lens of a father and son, while talking about the biggest names throughout NBA history,” according to a news release.
Dell Curry played in the NBA for 16 years, with stints with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors.
The show’s producers say the series will deliver “the inside story on how Steph went from an underrated short and slim kid to dominating the league as the ‘baby-faced assassin.’”
It also delves into the ties Steph shares with superstar rival LeBron James, who was born in the same hospital in Akron, Ohio, and explores how Steph was on his way to becoming a New York Knick but ultimately became a legendary Golden State Warrior.
Guest voices include Steph’s mother, Sonya, fellow little man yet big-time baller (and Steph’s mentor) Muggsy Bogues, and agent to both Steph and Dell, Jeff Austin.
"Really excited for this project with Steph," Dell Curry said, as reported by The Charlotte Observer. "We had a blast reminiscing how we got to where we are."
Even before its launch, Heat Check is being compared to New Heights, the wildly popular podcast hosted by football’s family duo of Jason and Travis Kelce.
