The Golden Globes is adding a new category to its awards slate, honoring the Best Podcast of the Year, and it has now released the 25 podcasts eligible for the trophy. Shows on that list must now submit content by Oct. 31 to be considered by the judges.
Dick Clark Productions, which produces the Golden Globes, previously said the top 25 podcasts will automatically qualify for the award, with a total of six final nominations for the category set to be announced Dec. 8. The list of eligible shows was determined by the Globe’s data partner, Luminate. It includes:
20/20 from ABC News

“This year’s inaugural list of eligible programs for the new Best Podcast eligibility list reflects the incredible depth, diversity and creativity thriving in the podcasting world today,” said Helen Hoehne, President of the Golden Globes in the announcement. “From groundbreaking investigative series to deeply personal storytelling and innovative audio formats, this list showcases the power of podcasting to inform, entertain, and inspire audiences around the globe.”
But the list of eligible shows only features podcasts produced by U.S.-based publishers and podcasters. And that is drawing criticism from the UK. Goalhanger’s Andy Neilson, who sits on the AudioUK board, says the list stands in contrast to the Golden Globe Foundation’s stated mission to celebrate “depth, diversity, and creativity” in podcasting around the globe.
“As the industry matures, there’s a real opportunity — and responsibility — for major awards to reflect the full breadth of global podcasting. To truly capture what’s happening in the medium, we need to celebrate creators from everywhere — not just one market,” Neilson writes in a post on social media.
Winners of the Golden Globes will be presented on Jan. 11, 2026.
