Football Meets Fútbol In iHeart’s ‘Big Kick Energy.’

Call it football or fútbol, a new podcast will bring both versions of the game together with a series hosted by a pair of active pros. Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker and Los Angeles Football Club midfielder Timothy Tillman will host “Big Kick Energy,” a weekly iHeartPodcasts series that crosses the NFL-MLS divide to talk football, soccer and the culture surrounding both sports.
The show debuts today (Sept. 11), with the two Los Angeles athletes comparing everything from the pressure of a game-winning field goal to the tension of a penalty kick. They’ll also break down major storylines, bring listeners inside the lives of professional athletes, and welcome guests from across the sports world.
The crossover is especially natural for Dicker. The NFL’s most accurate career field-goal kicker grew up in Shanghai, where soccer became his first sporting passion before helping steer him toward football and a career in the NFL.
“Soccer was the first sport I fell in love with growing up, and ultimately it’s what led me to kicking and my career in the NFL,” Dicker says. “This podcast gives me the opportunity to come full circle and share my true passion for the game of soccer, while hopefully giving something back to the sport that has given me so much.”
Tillman comes at the football-fútbol connection from the other direction. He developed in Germany’s elite soccer system, including time with Bayern Munich, and played professionally there before joining LAFC in Major League Soccer.
“For me, soccer has always been about more than just what happens on the field,” Tillman says. “It’s brought me so many great experiences, friendships, and memories, and has taught me a lot about teamwork, discipline, resilience, and being part of something bigger. But most importantly, soccer should be fun. That’s what we want to bring to this podcast. Good vibes, real conversations, great guests, and a love for the game.”
The show also expands iHeartMedia’s soccer-focused podcast lineup as the company looks to capitalize on growing U.S. interest in the sport.
“We’re not just making a sports show, we’re blowing the doors off what a sports show can be,” says Leo Gomez, Head of the iHeart Soccer Network. “Two iconic young voices. Two leagues. Two massive fanbases. One stage, coming together to celebrate soccer. That only happens because soccer culture is getting bigger, louder, and more undeniable every day.
“Big Kick Energy” will release new episodes each Friday and will be distributed by iHeartPodcasts on the iHeartRadio app and other podcast platforms.
