Dave Chappelle Expands His Podcast Reach As ‘People Party’ Moves To Luminary.

Uproxx’s People’s Party with Talib Kweli podcast is moving to Luminary and will become a Luminary Original podcast to Luminary subscribers next month. As part of the move, Dave Chappelle’s Pilot Boy Productions becomes executive producer of the podcast.

People’s Party, which was co-created by the hip-hop legend and Jarret Myer, is a weekly interview show. Launched two years ago, Kweli and co-host Jasmin Leigh have sat down with a range of guests including rap musicians, actors, cultural icons, and other creators. Guests have ranged from DMX and Ice Cube to Bernie Sanders.

“People's Party has been a labor of love and I am very proud of what we have accomplished over these first 100 episodes,” said Kweli. “It makes perfect sense for us to partner with Dave Chappelle's Pilot Boy Productions going forward. Dave has always championed this culture that is based in hip-hop, and he is the vanguard for great art.”

People’s Party will remain available for all listeners on Luminary and other podcast platforms where it is currently available until July 5 when it will become available only to Luminary subscribers – either on the Luminary app or on the Luminary subscription channel on Apple Podcasts. The video of each episode will be available widely on Uproxx’s YouTube channel the Monday following each episode launch.

“Luminary welcomes People’s Party with Talib Kweli to our network and we are proud to be the home of Talib’s groundbreaking art,” said Luminary CEO Simon Sutton in the announcement.

With the move to Luminary, Uproxx will continue to lead production and Pilot Boy Productions will serve as executive producer, which the partners describe as “a natural fit” given Kweli’s work with Chappelle on the Luminary Original Podcast, The Midnight Miracle.

“Kweli’s unparalleled passion and talent as an interviewer draws in guests who have defined hip-hop and pop culture – including some of the world's most influential musicians, actors, activists, athletes, and political figures,” said Uproxx co-founder Jarret Myer. “Now, we are excited to amplify these conversations even further through the Luminary network and by bringing Dave Chappelle’s Pilot Boy Productions on board as executive producer.”
