Dana Carvey and David Spade Offer A Peek Inside ‘SNL’ In New Podcast ‘Fly On The Wall.’

Comedians and “Saturday Night Live” alumni Dana Carvey and David Spade are reuniting on a new weekly podcast series. Produced by Cadence13, their SNL-focused show called Fly on the Wall, will feature the comedians sitting down with past and present cast members, hosts, writers, and musical guests to reminisce about their favorite moments, memories, and sketches from the storied late night TV sketch comedy and variety show.

“David is a blast to hangout and riff with—he’s been a great friend for years, not to mention one of the funniest comics out there. We were lucky enough to overlap on SNL for a few years, where I thought he was fantastic, and have been talking about it ever since,” said Carvey. “We have dinner twice a month and talk about life and show business—I usually pay, but I'm not bitter—and it made sense to start recording these conversations with our friends and turn them into Cadence13’s Fly on the Wall.” Carvey spent seven seasons on SNL, from 1986 to 1993.

The idea is that each week, Carvey and Spade invite listeners to be a “fly on the wall” as they sit down for in-depth conversations with a who’s who of SNL, as well as other special guests and friends, to take listeners behind the scenes and share never-before told stories about their careers and time on the long-running NBC show. According to press materials, they’ll discuss the stories behind their favorite characters and impressions, the jokes behind the jokes, life on and off the set, and how being a part of SNL has impacted their lives.

“Dana is a hilarious comedian and one of the great legends of SNL, and also a good friend,” said Spade, who worked on SNL from 1990 to 1996. “Having dinner with him over the years, we’ve always wound up talking about SNL. So a Cadence13 podcast discussing show business, and the inside baseball of that show…sounded like a perfect fit.”

Season One of Fly on the Wall will launch Wednesday (Jan. 12) with the first two episodes featuring Chris Rock and Rob Lowe. Other guests in the first season will include Tom Hanks, Darrell Hammond, Kevin Nealon, Jon Lovitz, Martin Short, Melanie Hutsell, Ana Gasteyer, Tim Meadows, Laraine Newman, and Will Forte.

“Everyone loves to hear stories from one of the most popular and influential shows in the history of pop culture,” said Chris Corcoran, Chief Content Officer at Cadence13. “What better way to do that than with two superstar alumni in Dana and David, who bring instant chemistry, amazing guests, and incredibly engaging and nostalgic storytelling. This is the ultimate backstage pass to the world of comedy.”

New episodes will be available Wednesdays.
