Dan Bongino is heading back in front of the mic and to Westwood One. Just weeks after exiting the FBI, the conservative commentator says he will host a new podcast for the Cumulus Media-owned network beginning in early February.
“The show is definitely coming back — and we’re going to be ready to roll,” Bongino said in an appearance on “The Nightly Scroll” podcast. Final details are still being worked out, with a full announcement expected early next week. But Bongino revealed the new, two-hour show will be streamed in the 10am to 12pm (ET) timeslot and then be available as an on-demand podcast.
A return to the mic had been widely expected since Bongino said he would step down as FBI Deputy Director, ending a brief tenure that began last March. President Trump told reporters Bongino “did a great job” but added that he expected him to return to media.
During his return announcement, Bongino said the biggest challenge for him when he gets back in front of listeners will be narrowing what he wants to say.
“I’ve got so much content bottled up in my head,” Bongino said. “Usually, we would put together the show night before. But for that first show, I got a lot of stuff. Obviously, I can’t talk about classified stuff. But there’s a lot of stuff we can talk about and provide context and color. So there’s a lot of stuff to talk about that I think is going to open a lot of eyes, and a lot of ignoramuses are going to get shut down.”
Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, launched a podcast in 2017, which was repurposed as a one-hour radio program. He then made his big move on radio in May 2021 following the death of Rush Limbaugh. Westwood One positioned his former 12-3pm weekday show as a potential alternative for stations looking for a successor. It proved a hit for the company. Cumulus Media CEO Mary Berner repeatedly blamed the loss of “The Dan Bongino Show” for softer revenue last year.
While he was at the FBI, Bongino still had a hand in media production. He and his wife, Paula, launched Silverloch Productions last year. The company produces podcasts including the “Bongino Report Early Edition,” hosted by journalist and culture analyst Evita Duffy-Alfonso, which was launched in July 2024. Silverloch Productions also launched a new podcast hosted by Vince Coglianese, Bongino’s successor on Westwood One, which syndicates “The Vince Show” in the 12-3pm timeslot to more than 250 affiliates and is also available as a separate podcast.
