The Daily Wire has the become the biggest podcast publisher of conservative content, with more than seven million unique listeners each month according to Podtrac. It is now offering something for the kids to consume while mom and dad are listening to podcasts like The Ben Shapiro Show. Just over a year after The Daily Wire announced its commitment to invest $100 million into kids entertainment, the company is launching Bentkey, a new kids entertainment app.
Bentkey debuts with 18 shows, including four original series, launching with more than 150 episodes of video content targeting kids. Daily wire says new episodes will arrive every Saturday morning and new series will be added to the platform on an ongoing basis. The app is available for desktop, iOS, Android, AppleTV, Roku, and FireTV.
The launch of Daily Wire’s kids’ app came on the same week as the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Walt Disney Company, and Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing sees an opening among conservatives who he believes are fed up with Disney’s political leanings.
“While Disney still uses Walt’s name, they have all but abandoned his legacy,” said Boreing. “Walt Disney loved America. The company he founded seems to think America is systemically racist, and beyond just their content, Disney as a corporation pushes all the worst excesses of the woke left… It would be impossible to overstate just how big a loss this is for Americans who believe in basic reality. Disney controls the greatest content library ever created.”
Bentkey will also be releasing its own live action adaptation of the “Snow White” fairytale to counter an upcoming adaptation from Disney. Bentkey’s “Snow White and the Evil Queen” will be a live action adaptation that Boreing says is simply a “story about a princess and a prince, about beauty and vanity, about love and its power to raise us from death to life.”
Boreing’s comments came in a pre-recorded address from Lake Bled in Slovenia. Boreing is on a leave of absence from his role as co-CEO at The Daily Wire while he is directing Daily Wire’s “Pendragon” series in Hungary and Italy.
Bentkey – whose name is a nod to the bent key Boreing has worn around his neck every day for the past 28 years – was launched separately from the main DailyWire+ app because, according to Boreing, unlike Daily Wire’s heavy emphasis on hot button political and cultural controversies, Bentkey “isn't about teaching kids politics” but rather “it’s about childhood and wonder and adventure” promising it will feature “a world of content and characters that families will love and parents can trust.”
