Comedy Central, iHeart Podcast Explores What Drives Trevor Noah’s Comedy.

Following this week’s pair of Emmy nominations for “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” Comedy Central is expanding its Daily Show podcast catalog with the new podcast “Beyond the Scenes,” produced in partnership with iHeartMedia. Hosted by Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr., it offers an inside look at how producers and writers of the series use comedy to tackle a variety of complex topics, from racial injustice to sex robots.

Correspondents Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan, Michael Kosta, Ronny Chieng and contributor Jordan Klepper, along with special guests, will also be featured. Launching July 20, the premiere episode, “Therapy in the Black Community,” discusses mental health, Black church, protests against racial injustice and police brutality.

“This is the show where we go beyond the scenes,” Wood says. “This is our chance to revisit some of the most complicated and absurd issues tackled by The Daily Show without the time limits and without me having to leave my bedroom.”
