Clay Travis, Buck Sexton Visit Trump In Oval Office.

Clay Travis and Buck Sexton brought a little of the “Clay & Buck Show” into the Oval Office, meeting with President Trump on Monday and later sharing details of the visit with listeners.

The hosts of the nationally syndicated talk show met with Trump on Sept. 28 and described the encounter as a wide-ranging conversation that included media, foreign policy and college football. The visit also included interactions with several senior administration officials, according to the hosts.

The appearance comes after Travis conducted a separate interview with Trump during the president’s Sept. 26 visit to the Tennessee-Texas college football game. That conversation covered college athletics, professional sports, crime and the economy.

On the Tuesday edition of “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show,” Sexton said the hosts spent time with Trump in the Oval Office while members of his administration came and went.

“It was just like a hangout session in there for a bit,” Sexton said, describing Trump as discussing current events while also turning the conversation toward sports.

Sexton said Trump told the hosts that he listens to the show and thanked them for their work. The hosts also discussed the media landscape with the president, according to Sexton.

The conversation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who joined by speakerphone while Trump was addressing a developing news story involving Iran. Sexton said Trump was discussing the situation with his team when Rubio called.

According to Travis, Trump put Rubio on speakerphone and told him that Clay and Buck were in the Oval Office. Rubio responded, “Go Gators,” referring to the University of Florida football team.

Travis said the exchange was particularly notable because Rubio’s son plays for Florida and the two have communicated about college football. The hosts had been following Florida’s 52-point performance against Ole Miss, making the football reference an unexpected part of a conversation that had been focused on foreign policy.

The visit also touched on Iran. Travis said Trump was responding to what he described as an inaccurate report concerning the administration’s position on negotiations with Iran. Sexton said the president and his team discussed the situation with the hosts during the meeting.

The political and policy portions of the conversation were mixed with the hosts’ sports discussion, which Sexton said repeatedly pulled the conversation back toward college football.

The Oval Office visit extends the relationship between Trump and the “Clay & Buck Show.” Trump has appeared on the program’s associated content previously, including the Sept. 26 interview with Travis during the Tennessee-Texas game.
