Charlie Kirk’s Podcast Posthumously Surges To No. 1.

In the days since the murder of Charlie Kirk, his Salem Podcast Network show has seen a bump in listening. Apple Podcasts says The Charlie Kirk Show currently ranks No. 1 as the most listened-to show on its app. Meanwhile, on Spotify it ranks as the top Trending Podcast, with an overall rank of No. 20. It is part of a surge in interest in what Kirk has had to say since he was shot and killed last Wednesday (Sept. 10) while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Sales of Kirk’s books have also spiked.

Erika Frantzve Kirk said in her first public comments after the shooting Monday that she believes her late husband’s influence will only grow. “My husband’s voice will remain, and it will ring out louder and more clearly than ever, and his wisdom will endure,” she said.

Vice President JD Vance guest-hosted The Charlie Kirk Show podcast from the White House on Monday (Sept. 15) in a special episode honoring his late friend. It also aired on Salem Radio Network and was simulcast on Salem News Channel during Kirk’s 12-3pm ET timeslot. More than 200,000 people also joined the show’s live stream.

“JD Vance and Charlie Kirk were close personal friends for years,” Salem VP/News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup said. Salem has not said what its long-term plans are for “The Charlie Kirk Show,” which has aired on about 200 radio stations in addition to being published as a podcast.

Vance told listeners that the Trump administration plans to target members of the “far left” organizations that he believes are behind the rise in political violence. Vance added that the administration would not go after “constitutionally protected speech.”

A just-released survey by Morning Consult finds two-thirds of Americans have heard “a lot” about Kirk’s killing. Most people said the news made them worried (57%) or angry (56%). And Republicans and Democrats agree that America’s political rhetoric is to blame for the assassination, but the survey says they also blame one another. The results show 62% of Republican voters said the “liberal media” is to blame, while the same number of Democrats point the finger toward President Trump. The survey was conducted Sept. 12-14 among 2,204 registered voters, with a margin of error of +/-2%.

The funeral for Kirk will be held Sunday, Sept. 21 at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix.
