Charlamagne Tha God To Receive Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star.

Lenard “Charlamagne Tha God” McKelvey, the co-host of Premiere Networks nationally syndicated daily radio show “The Breakfast Club,” is getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He’ll have the distinction of being the lone radio personality chosen for the Walk of Fame’s Class of 2027.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the honor Thursday (July 24) during a ceremony hosted by actress Ming-Na Wen and musician Sheila E.

The 48-year-old Charlamagne has become one of the most influential voices in contemporary radio since making his debut on “The Breakfast Club” in 2010. The show originates at iHeartMedia’s urban contemporary “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM New York, where it’s known for its candid interviews with entertainers, athletes and political leaders, including presidents and presidential candidates. McKelvey and co-host DJ Envy were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020 as part of “The Breakfast Club” team.

A South Carolina native, McKelvey began his broadcasting career as an intern at “Z93 Jamz” WWWZ (93.3) in Charleston before working with Wendy Williams and later joining “The Breakfast Club.” Beyond radio, he’s hosted television programs, authored best-selling books and founded the Black Effect Podcast Network in partnership with iHeartMedia.

“Charlamagne Tha God has redefined what it means to be a radio personality,” Walk of Fame Selection Committee Chairman Peter Roth said in announcing the Class of 2027. “His influence extends beyond the airwaves, shaping conversations in entertainment, politics, and culture while continuing to engage and inspire audiences around the world.”

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chose 32 entertainment professionals for the Class of 2027 in the categories of motion pictures, TV, recording, live theater/live performance, radio and sports entertainment. Other honorees include actors Idris Elba, Pedro Pascal, Lisa Kudrow, Adam Scott, Keke Palmer, Sam Rockwell and Kate Hudson; recording artists Lil Wayne, Karol G, Sia, David Guetta, Linkin Park, Smashing Pumpkins, Grandmaster Flash and The Ramones; comedian Jo Koy; Broadway performer Nicole Scherzinger; NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson; and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

“The Selection Committee chose these talented individuals because of their significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them with this well-deserved recognition,” Roth said.

Charlamagne inclusion alone puts him in rarefied air. Of the more than 2,800 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, just 9% (roughly 250) hail from radio. Radio is one of six categories from which selections are made, along with motion pictures and television, which dominate the overall numbers, and recording, live theatre/performance, and sports entertainment.

Charlamagne will be the first inductee in the radio category since Adam Carolla in 2025. Previous honorees include titans of the medium: Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, Wolfman Jack and many others.

Dates for the star ceremonies have not been announced. Recipients have two years to schedule their ceremonies after selection.
