From extended car warranties to trash removal, Business & Consumer Services is a growing ad category at radio with a half dozen accounts among the top advertisers for the week of Aug. 8-14. Among them are new and used car buying guide Kelly Blue Book at No. 35, RBDS Rubbish Boys Disposal Services’ 1-800-Got-Junk? at No. 65, catering services provider ezCater at No. 69, timeshare cancellation company Wesley Financial Group at No. 74, extended warranty provider Car Shields at No. 83, and multi-service provider Nesmetaju at No. 87.
In the related office-computer supplies category, Staples-Staples Connect penetrates the top 10 with 31,495 spots, according to Media Monitors, which tracks national radio advertising in 100 markets.
Meanwhile, there are more spots and promos for podcasts and podcast-related products hitting the air. Flat Iron Books ran 30,608 spots for “Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know,” written by Ben Bowlin, Matthew Frederick and Noel Brown, hosts of the podcast of the same name, putting the companion book at No. 12 on the latest tally. Actor Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players podcast network, a partnership with iHeartMedia, aired 19,112 spots for the “Clown Parade” podcast to rank at No. 30. The podcast features four episodes each month by a different up-and-coming comedic talent. Meanwhile, iHeartMedia ran 7,097 promos for its “Song Stories” podcast which ranked at No. 86 and Shondaland Audio placed 5,829 announcements for “The R Spot with Iyanla” to rank at No. 96.
The second full week of August found five Wireless Carriers advertising their services on AM/FM radio, led by Cricket Wireless at No. 13, Metro by T-Mobile at 38, Straight Talk by Tracfone Wireless at No. 47, Verizon Wireless at No. 52 and T-Mobile at No. 53.
Under the broad home improvement umbrella this past week were home improvement retailer Lowe’s at No. 21, home furnishings retailer IKEA at No. 63, window coverings provider Blindster at No. 99.
For the week of Aug. 8-14, 2022, the top ten on the Media Monitors tally are Indeed at 1, Progressive at 2, Upside at 3, iHeartRadio Music Festival at 4, iHeartRadio at 5, DuckDuckGo at 6, ZipRecruiter at 7, Babbel at 8, Grainger at 9 and Staples-Staples Connect at 10.
