Audiochuck Creates Wavland Network To Go Beyond True Crime.

Audiochuck is looking to branch out beyond the true crime genre that has made shows like its flagship Crime Junkie a hit. The Ashley Flowers-headed studio has hired Jason Hoch to head a new podcast network that will develop content across a variety of genres. Hoch will serve as chief executive and chief creative officer of the new network, which is called Wavland. He will also work as producer on several projects.

Hoch most recently was President of Podcasts at Imperative Entertainment. Prior to that, he worked as Head of New Initiatives and Chief Content Officer at How Stuff Works from 2014 to 2019.

“I’m so excited to be joining Ashley and her impeccable team at Audiochuck,” Hoch said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. “This is an incredible opportunity to deliver non-fiction documentary, drama and true crime stories at scale with some amazing creators. Taking the road less traveled has always been a hallmark of my career, and I intend to travel the country with our team to tell these stories like never before.”

Wavland reportedly plans to release its first shows by the end of this year.
