Audacy Takes Local News, Sports Stations National In SiriusXM Alliance.

In a marriage of broadcast and satellite radio, 42 of Audacy’s sports, news and talk stations from 29 markets will be carried across the U.S. on SiriusXM, in a staggered rollout that begins in September.

The satcaster will begin rebroadcasting 23 Audacy sports stations on Sept. 1, with nine outlets – including WFAN New York, WSCR Chicago, WIP-FM Philadelphia and WEEI Boston – available to SiriusXM listeners in their vehicles and on the SiriusXM app.

Another 14 Audacy sports stations will be available on the SiriusXM app and in the growing number of vehicles on the road with the latest generation SiriusXM 360L radios. These include recently launched “97.1 The Fan” KNX-FM Los Angeles, “SportsRadio 610” KILT Houston, “106.7 The Fan” WJFK Washington, DC and “92.9 The Game” WZGC Atlanta, among others.

The hook-up also includes 19 Audacy news and talk stations, which will land on satellite radio on a future date. These will be available on the SiriusXM app and in vehicles with SiriusXM with 360L, and include WINS New York, KNX Los Angeles, WBBM Chicago, KCBS San Francisco, KRLD Dallas and KYW Philadelphia.

The hook-up will significantly expand SiriusXM’s local content offering and extend the reach of many of Audacy’s spoken word brands.

Financial terms and revenue share arrangements haven’t been disclosed.

The Audacy sports stations will be available to the majority of SiriusXM subscribers through its most popular subscription plans, including Platinum, All Access, Music & Entertainment, and other options. The additional Audacy news and talk stations will become available through eligible SiriusXM plans when they join the lineup later this year.

SiriusXM already boasts an extensive lineup of sports programming, including live play-by-play broadcasts for every major North American professional sports league. Of course, the gameday action is provided by the leagues and broadcast radio and allows listeners to choose between the home and visiting team announcers.

In announcing the deal with Audacy, Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer, acknowledges “the unique role local personalities play in connecting fans with their teams every day. By adding Audacy’s extensive lineup of sports stations, we’re making those trusted hometown voices available to fans wherever they are across North America,” Greenstein said. “Together, we’re delivering an even more complete audio experience – bringing live games, premier national sports talk, and hometown conversations together in one place.”
