Amanda de Cadenet breathed new life into her television talk show, The Conversation, in 2019 when, after five years off the TV screen, she transitioned it into a podcast for Spotify. The series only lasted ten episodes but de Cadenet is returning to the format, this time with iHeartMedia and a very targeted topic: men.
The new podcast is called The Conservation: About the Men, and it is part of a three-year deal that de Cadenet and iHeart announced in July. As part of the alliance, de Cadenet will move her existing shows under the iHeartPodcast Network banner.
In The Conversation About the Men, iHeart says de Cadenet will interview some of the world’s “most prominent men” with “difficult and uncomfortable” dialogue. First season guests include Matthew McConaughey, Charlamagne tha God, Zachary Levi, Dr. Terry Real, Nick Viall, Kal Penn, and YungBlood, among others
“Men have undeniably had a massive cultural reckoning over the last few years. The existing concepts of masculinity have been shattered and need to be rebuilt. Men’s voices are crucial in the restructuring of modern masculinity,” said Cadenet. “As the mother of a teenage son and someone who values a multitude of opinions, my hope is to build bridges and create a space for men to speak honestly and openly in a collaborative way. Consent, parenting, race, cancel culture, porn, Roe V Wade and toxic masculinity are just some of the subjects we get into in an uncensored and authentic way.”
De Cadenet has had a lifelong career in the media, starting at age 15 in the U.K., she became a household name as the host of the late-night music show “The Word,” where she interviewed big names in music for five years. In 2017 De Cadenet executive produced and hosted “The Conversation,” a Lifetime television interview series. De Cadenet is also the founder of Girlgaze, a platform that connects a network of female-identifying and non-binary creatives with companies who want to hire diverse creative teams.
The Conversation: About the Men will drop new episodes each Monday. It is distributed by the iHeartPodcast Network.
