An investment firm that owns Church’s Texas Chicken, Quiznos and Taco Del Mar is making another acquisition in the quick-serve space. High Bluff Capital Partners will assume ownership of 81 Hardee’s restaurant locations formerly operated by Summit Restaurant Holdings. The move follows a court-approved auction process for the assets of Summit Restaurant Group, a former Hardee’s operator. The transaction is expected to close in August… At Home is offering customers more flexibility in how they make their purchases. The value home décor retailer is providing buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) financing via the Synchrony Pay Later solution. Consumers can apply for a Synchrony Pay Later interest-free loan to make equal payments over three months on one-time purchases of $75 to $400, without impacting their credit score.


Uber is expanding convenience store delivery options in a new integration with Vroom Delivery. The company, which initially expanded from its core rideshare business into third-party online delivery with the launch of Uber Eats in 2015, is enabling convenience retailers utilizing Vroom Delivery’s back office, inventory and loyalty solutions to take orders from the Uber Eats app. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Miami, Vroom Delivery partners with regional and national chains representing more than 3,000 stores in nearly 40 U.S. states.


A bankruptcy judge approved the sale of David’s Bridal to asset manager Cion Investment in a deal that will keep the chain up and running, but in a downsized fashion. Under the terms of the no-cash transaction, the bankrupt wedding dress and special occasion retailer will reportedly keep 195 stores open... Jiffy Lube and Good Humor are teaming up on an initiative to help neighborhood ice cream trucks stay on the road all season long. Rising operating costs threaten the future of ice cream trucks, but the brands aim to lessen the burden that vehicle maintenance can bring, says Jiffy Lube. Target is planning to build a 180,000-square-foot sortation center in Detroit to support delivery services to the metro area. The facility is slated to be completed in 2024 and will join Target’s other sortation centers across Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Texas... H-E-B has grabbed the top spot in a Food & Wine list highlighting the top supermarkets in the U.S. Food & Wine said it was impressed with the retailer’s wide range of private label offerings, the store’s curbside service and the in-store tortillerias. Wegmans, which finished second, was also applauded for its private label along with its baked goods and prepared foods. Hy-Vee came in third with its homestyle prepared meals and community involvement.
