Rainn Wilson, an actor best known for his work on a television series, is launching a podcast about a radio show. The newest Audioboom Originals Network show is a fictional, dark comedy podcast written by, and starring, Wilson. Called Dark Air, the podcast features Wilson reprising the role of Terry Carnation, who first appeared as a character in 2019’s podcast Radio Rental podcast. Carnation is a late-night AM talk radio personality. And in Dark Air, he will be the focus of the series.
Audioboom says the scripted show explores the life of Carnation as he speaks to outrageous callers and discusses bizarre topics like UFOs, the paranormal, the occult, the Illuminati, and whether Kim Jong Un is secretly a robot. The first episode will premiere on Thursday, April 1, with new episodes released every Thursday.
“We’re excited to bring Rainn (and Terry) back to the podcasting space with Dark Air. Combining the creative drive of Rainn with Audioboom’s market-leading distribution proves once again that the Audioboom Originals Network is a home for inventive concepts and innovative productions,” says Audioboom EVP, Content & Production, Brendan Regan.
Wilson is best known for playing Dwight Schrute in the NBC sitcom “The Office.” Alongside Wilson, the show features a strong cast of recurring guest stars such as Karan Soni (Deadpool), Al Madrigal (The Daily Show), and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community). Guests appearances in the inaugural season include Susan Sarandon, Angela Kinsey, and Mindy Sterling.
