The 25th anniversary season of the ABC-TV talk show “The View” launches Sept. 7 and the only change won’t be a return to in-studio tapings for the first time since March 2020. For the first time the series will produce a companion podcast produced by ABC Audio. The weekly Behind The Table show will feature a mix of interviews with celebrities, newsmakers and politicians as well as the behind-the-scenes stories of the TV show’s creation.
“The View” is not new to podcasting. The daily show hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro already posts an audio version of each day’s TV show as a podcast each weekday afternoon. The Behind The Table episodes will be available as a special series within The View podcast feed when it debuts next month.
“In 1997 the legendary Barbara Walters set out to create a show that celebrated strong women and their views, 25 years later her vision is going strong and we thought we could celebrate it bringing back the people who know it best for a special podcast series from ‘The View’,” said Goldberg on the show’s preview episode.
Behind The Table will release its first episode Sept. 14.
The ABC-TV show debuted Aug. 11, 1997 and has become the most-watched daytime talk show according to Nielsen.
