Nine of the top ten podcasts measured by Podtrac remained the same in May compared to April. The only change was Cumulus Podcast Network’s The Dan Bongino Show returned to the top ten likely benefiting from his late-month debut as a syndicated talk radio host via Cumulus-owned Westwood One. It was one of eight podcasts in the top 20 that also air on broadcast radio.
Podtrac says The New York Times-produced The Daily remained in the top spot for the 31st consecutive month during May. It was followed by NPR’s hourly five-minute podcast NPR News Now and the NPR-produced morning news podcast Up First and the Dateline NBC podcast which continues to leverage the long-running television series’ true crime archive. Barstool Sports’ Call Her Daddy rounded out the top five.
Three shows tied for biggest movers during May, as each advanced three spots on the chart. They included Hidden Brain, which moved up to No. 12, iHeartRadio’s The Breakfast Club, which rose to No 18. And YMH Studio’s 2 Bears 1 Cave, with that podcast’s highest-ever ranking as it came in at No. 20.
NPR had the most podcasts among the top 20 during May – with six shows making the cut. Barstool Sports had two entries on the ranker.
