Pushkin Industries is making a move toward seeing its podcasts and audiobooks developed into television series and feature films. Pushkin has inked a first-look deal with A24, the studio behind movies including “Moonlight” and television series such as “Euphoria.” The deal will give A24 first crack at Pushkin projects. It will also help fund a new position focused on show development.
Pushkin has hired Meghna Rao to lead its development. She joins from Topic Studios where she has spent the past four years working on its original series and films. Rao previously worked on show development for Left/Right. Her hiring was first reported by Bloomberg.
Pushkin says its co-founders, Jacob Weisberg and Malcolm Gladwell, will Executive Produce any projects developed through the A24 partnership. The two companies already work together on a documentary series based on Gladwell’s Bomber Mafia audiobook with filmmaker Morgan Neville.
