Audacy’s Cadence13 will embrace the video side of podcast consumption as it teams with investigative filmmaker Jeremy Corbell and journalist George Knapp for a new series that will explore strange phenomena, UFOs, cover-ups and conspiracies. Titled Weaponized, the multi-platform series will drop full video of the episodes on Corbell’s YouTube channel as well as on the usual podcast listening locations.
The subject matter may be unexplainable but the creator’s embrace of video is a lot easier to figure out. Cadence13 says Weaponized will release never-before-seen video footage and previously-suppressed documents on its video feed. The creators also promise the podcast will “break news” and share “never-before-seen footage” related to the world of the unexplained.
“The aim of journalism is to reveal that which lies beneath the thin veneer of a society, to expose truths that are often just beyond the reach of our consensus reality. It can be counterintuitive - but to reveal secrets, you often must first learn to keep them. George and I have done that,” said Corbell. “We have kept secrets. But now we have built a vehicle to explore the mysteries that have kept us curious and alert over the decades. It’s with great pleasure and methodical mischief that we introduce Weaponized to the world.”
Corbell and Knapp will be joined on the podcast by guests including government whistleblowers, spies, scientists, military officials, journalists, filmmakers, historians, artists, musicians, and celebrities for conversations that they say will cast a wide shadow through the other-world, and detail the human experiences that inform these extraordinary phenomena.
“It's the job of journalism -- and science -- to investigate the unexplained, not to explain the uninvestigated,” Knapp said. “So much has changed over the past few years. Reality isn't what it used to be. It's bigger, more mysterious, and more wondrous than any of us imagined. With Weaponized, Jeremy and I expect to break news, add context, and have some fun as we talk with talented people who have compelling stories to tell.”
Corbell is an investigative filmmaker with movies on Netflix and Hulu. He is known for his documentary work exploring mysteries in the fields of UFOs, advanced technology and the “dark space” where science confronts the abnormal.
Knapp is the chief investigative reporter for KLAS-TV Las Vegas and a regular host of the syndicated “Coast to Coast AM” radio show.
The podcast was created by Corbell and Knapp and it is a production of Cadence13 Studios and Dark Horse Entertainment – the Mike Richardson-created until that is an off-shoot of Dark Horse Comics, the publishing house he founded in 1986.
“I’m very excited about this new project with George, Jeremy and Cadence13,” Richardson said. “There is something going on in our skies, and they are the gold standard in UFO reporting. As someone who has seen ‘something’ myself, I can’t wait to see what they reveal over the course of the first season.”
Weaponized debuts today (Jan. 24). New episodes will be released Tuesdays.
“We look forward to Jeremy and George sharing their expertise, investigative skills, access – and most of all curiosity – in an engaging and entertaining style with millions of listeners,” said Chris Corcoran, Chief Content Officer at Cadence13 in the announcement.
