iHeart Stays On Top In Triton’s January Webcast Rankings


Double-digit year-over-year listening gains were posted by Educational Media Foundation (+76%), NPR Member Stations (+32%) and New York Public Radio (+15%) in the January 2021 Webcast Metrics U.S. Ranker from Triton Digital. The increases are based on Average Active Sessions (AAS) in the primetime Mon-Fri, 6am-8pm daypart.


EMF’s YOY gains (19,016-33,478) in January 2021 follow the religious broadcaster’s 103% spurt from December 2019-December 2020.


iHeartRadio remains on top of the rankers with 400,167 AAS (Mon-Fri, 6am-8pm) in January 2021, a 6% decline from the year before. NPR is next (97,904-129,616), followed by a fractional increase for Entercom’s for Radio.com (91,544-92,034) and Cumulus Streaming Network, which is down 7% year-over-year (72,267-67,144).


EMF moves from ninth in January 2020 to fifth in the latest Webcast Metrics report. Univision is up 3% year-over-year (26,569-27,612) and is ranked sixth, followed by Beasley Broadcasting Corporate, which declined 4% (26,768-25,679) and Hubbard Broadcasting, which is down 9% (21,297-19,300).


New York Public Radio (14,737-17,009) was ranked 12th in January 2020 and rises to ninth in the latest report. Salem Communications is down 10% year-over-year (16,506-14,836), while AccuRadio loses 18% of its AAS (17,737-14,395).


iHeartMedia Network, which includes all of iHeartMedia-owned streams and the streams related to network affiliations, is the sole Sales Network listed in the rankings with 1,154,502 AAS, down 5% year-over-year.


The January 2021 report is the third consecutive month to not include pureplay streamer Pandora, which chose to stop being measured by the service effective with the November 2020 report.
