Three former Obama White House staffers, all women, are launching a political podcast timed to capture some of the interest around the 2020 presidential election to help the show connect with an audience. Pod is a Woman is a weekly show hosted by Alejandra Campoverdi, who served as White House Deputy Director of Hispanic Media; Johanna Maska, former White House Director of Press Advance; and Darienne Page, former White House Director of Veterans Outreach. The podcast is produced by Entercom’s Cadence13.
The hosts say Pod is a Woman will feature an “unfiltered” weekly conversation about politics and popular culture as they are joined by a roster of guests with backgrounds and perspectives, including politicians, organizers, tastemakers, and journalists. Campoverdi, Maska and Page will offer their insight and analysis, and a woman’s perspective, on the issues and the candidates.
“At this pivotal time for our country, we're thrilled to partner with Cadence13 to create space for honest, unapologetic, and representative conversations that will cut through the political noise and bring the focus back to the issues that really matter,” said hosts Campoverdi, Page and Maska in a joint statement..
Pod is a Woman launched Monday (Aug.10). Its first guest is Dr. Jill Biden, who could become the next First Lady depending on what happens on Election Day.
Chris Corcoran, Chief Content Officer at Cadence13, said the show will bring some “wit, wisdom, and candor” the political podcast genre. “Campoverdi, Page and Maska’s powerful and diverse voices couldn’t be more important to bring to the larger political conversation as we enter the home stretch to the 2020 presidential election and look ahead to the next four years,” he said.
