Charlamagne Tha God and iHeartMedia have announced an Atlanta return for The Black Effect Podcast Festival. The partners in the three-year old podcast network say the April event aims to celebrate, uplift and amplify Black voices in the podcast industry.
“We are proud to return to Atlanta for the second year in a row to showcase the talent across our network, and some of the biggest shows in podcasting,” said Charlamagne in the announcement. “Through culture-defining storytelling, unique brand partnerships, compelling panel discussions, special live podcast recordings and more, we are inviting everyone to experience the power of The Black Effect and the many ways Black creators are driving the culture forward.”
Charlamagne Tha God will join the April 27 festival alongside some of the Black Effect’s most popular personalities for a day full of live podcast tapings and discussions aimed at aspiring podcasters in the Black community. The festival will be hosted by Comedians Pretty Vee and B-Daht.
Last year’s sold-out show brought together thousands of podcast fans with the network’s top talent for a day of live podcast recordings from its most popular shows. It is a model that will be replicated this year. The second annual festival will feature live appearances from Carefully Reckless with Jess Hilarious, Whoreible Decisions, Black Tech, Green Money, and Deeply Well with Devi Brown. The festival will also feature special live recordings of shows Pour Minds, The Baller Alert Show and Million Dollaz Worth of Game, hosted by Wallo and Gillie Da Kid.
Launched in September 2020, the Black Effect Podcast Network has since debuted 37 shows and a lineup that is curated by Charlamagne Tha God.
The event will take place Saturday, April 27 from 12pm to 8pm at Pullman Yards in Atlanta. Tickets will go on sale February 28 at noon. Black Effect Podcast Festival partners include AT&T, Nissan, and State Farm.
Festival sponsors will be on-site at the event with activations for attendees including the Pitch Your Podcast booth in partnership with Nissan. In addition, the festival will also feature a variety of other activities such as a pop-up marketplace showcasing merchandise from Black-owned businesses, a photo booth, and Office Hours, with 1:1 mentoring sessions with iHeartMedia executives.
The Black Effect Podcast Network is marking its third anniversary with more than 800 million downloads to date, and over 2.3 million monthly listeners on average. The network stems from a years-long relationship between Charlamagne and iHeart, which syndicates his morning radio show, “The Breakfast Club,” from flagship hip-hop/R&B “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM New York. The replay podcast of the radio show serves as the flagship podcast for The Black Effect Podcast Network.
